How Did You Get Here…

Have you ever wondered how the people who read your blog got here. I have many times and am still amazed anyone reads it at all.  Where do they come from, who are they and how did they find me. I have tried to find me and it’s not that easy. I don’t have contest and I don’t sell anything. I’m not a featured blogger and my biggest promotion is the occasional tweet, which has yet to yield results. So what made you wander through my door today. Was it a search engine with confusing information or a link on someones blog? Perhaps it was a tag engine and you clicked on just the right word. What were you looking to find, are you glad you paused and read a story? Was the story sad or amusing? Who is your favorite blogger that you read all the time, maybe I can get a few pointers. Were you just curious about the name or are you one of those wonderful people who subscribed? Perhaps I left a comment on your blog  and you reciprocated, I love that custom. Whether it was by design or by chance I am glad you are here. Have a seat, be welcome and answer this question. How did you get here?

welcome

Postscript: This has been an interesting question and I have received many different answers. Some in the remarks you see here and some e-mails as well. Turns out that some who read my blog only live a few minutes from my home while others are half way across the world, I even met my first blogger Dad today. I have loved hearing from you all and however you found your way here, if it is your first time or your 10th time, please keep coming back. Thank you….R.

All my readers come to mine because I visited theirs first. I tweet and also put stuff up on facebook, but it has yet to received any results either. =) I can tell you that I found yours via some tag engine… and I’ve been visiting ever since.

I did that too, left comments, but I did not know the etiquette of blogging at that time and didn’t realize they would reciprocate. It was a lovely surprise.

Hey….you found ME. I just returned the favor. :)

I’ve been reading since you started commenting on my blog. (Yeah, I know I suck at commenting – sorry about that. I’ve been meaning to, really I have! I’ve been reading your other blog, too!)

Thanks for reading, especially that other blog (movienosh). I am thinking of doing a post about it asking for contributors to help keep it current.

I would be a horrible contributor to your other blog. I actually read your reviews with a twinge of jealousy, since having three kids three and under means no movies for me (unless you count Cars, The Incredibles, Enchanted, and Tinkerbell).

I don’t remember how I found you but I keep coming back because it’s friendly and comfy here :)

I use stat counter and it show how people found my site, what their search terms were… it’s free, too :)

Like many, I just wandered on over here because you left a comment on another blog where I, too, left a comment. I’ve found many many illuminating and interesting blogs this way, including yours!

I just hit the random blog surf button up in the right corner… :o)

I think I found you through Kathy B!

I enjoy your blog, and will continue coming back. I am just as surprised when someone comments on my blog. I’m not a writer, or teacher, or anything special, I’m just me.

That’s what I like about you.
You are just you………………..interesting and enjoyable!

  8. I found your blog via “Looking forward and back” – I enjoyed your tribute to your mother, and am thinking of doing some interviews with my Mom and other relatives to gain some incite into the lives of my ancestors. Seems like they had to endure so many more hardships than we do today. Heck, if they didn’t work, they didn’t eat…I’ll be back.

I’m not sure how I got here, but I was hooked after the story of your mother.

  10. Yaya says:

I don’t even know! Lol! I find a lot of my bloggy buddies through SITS. Others from people who comment on my blog so I follow behind. Others I search infertility forums for.

You commented on mine a couple of times, and I got curious, so I came to read more of you. I like your writing. Commenting on other people’s blogs is a great way to get traffic. Check your stats, that’ll tell you what people are reading to find you. Be careful, though. Reading stats will get you all crazy, needing more comments, more viewers. You get a bit competative. But I do like your style.

    Hey,

I actually found you because I was searching for customized WordPress blogs, and I saw a post by you in the WordPress forums asking some questions. I clicked and came here, and saw a very nice post on your mom…

So, keep coming here every now and then to see what’s up. I love discovering and finding hidden blog treasures :)
