I love books, I have said this many times before so you know it is true. I have been reading the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning and I am hooked. There have been 3 books so far and the 4th one is due out on August 18th, 2009. The main character is called MacKayla and there are Mac fans around the world. These books are quickly becoming part of the pop culture as they grow in popularity.
There is some head gear created by the main character called a Machalo. Fans got together and made a real one. The author was so taken with it that she started shipping it to fans so they could take their picture with it. The darn thing has now been more places than a seasoned traveler. I have included some of the pictures below so you can see how involved people have gotten with this story.
My only complaint is the amount of time it takes for the next book to come out, roughly a year. Book three left us on pins and needles with a life threatening cliffhanger and finally after a year of waiting and speculating we will find out how she survives on Tuesday (sigh). I gave ’80 the first 3 books to read a year ago and she is hooked too. The characters just draw you into Mac’s alternate world where “The Fae” and “Vampires” are real. Where the shadows themselves are alive and can kill you. If you need a good summer read and enjoy a break from reality then try these books, but remember “keep to the light”.
80 gave it to me & I too am a Mac fan. I told Rose about them too!
Hi Joy. Thanks for stopping.
Ooh, I’m glad that you talked about these since you just recommended the author to me. Although if it makes me wear a head gear like that… ;)
You never know you might look cute.
I love getting hooked into a series!
I have a feeling my Hubby will like these books.
Thanks! :)
I was not aware of this series. I might have to check it out if you promise not to take any pics of me with funny hats and post them on your blog!! Those are my terms….
Sounds fascinating. My type of books. Most good books take a year, and it’s pure torture. What’s worse to have an author start a series and not finish it! It makes me want to send angry letters.
I hate it when an author doesn’t finish a series but still keeps writing other books. I have sent angry letters (David Gerrold).
She is not kidding. She has sent angry letters. I mean really if you are going to start a series for God sake finish it. Short of death there should be no reason for an author not finish a series. A timely manner would be much appreciated in case maybe I die before I finish it.
