Am I Crazy Or What: Waiting for Harry Potter….

7/14/09 : I must be because I am sitting in line for Harry Potter….. the 12:05 am showing. I have my chair, my water and my kindle George. K and I are here for the duration and we can’t wait. I am also posting this from my phone, how cool is that. Expecto Patronum and beware the muggles. More to follow…..

30 minutes until the movie starts and the crowd is so excited. The room is buzzing with energy and expectation. I think this energy might be the fountain of youth even though it is short lived because I feel like a kid. We are all chanting Harry Harry Harry! Gotta go more later….

Update 7/15/09 : Well it was an exciting night and the movie was great. There were a few surprises in the film and many story arc’s were left out as usual because of time but overall a good interpretation of the book. I have one more issue though and that’s those guys, you know the ones, the ball buster’s. Why must they pop the beach balls, it’s hard to imagine someone being seriously hurt by an inflatable beach ball, but since rules are rules why not confiscate them and return them at the end of the evening instead. It is very hostile to stand there in front of 150 people and pop the ball they were playing with. Some how it goes beyond being a spoilsport and touches on rage. Other that that it was a great time for K and I as well as ’88 and my husband, can’t wait until the next one.

I know a lot of adults including myself who are stoked about the new Harry Potter movie! We hope there isn’t a long line tomorrow at the theater!!

I would say yes. But go you, and good luck!

  3. faemom says:

Yes, but only because I’ve resisted the lure of Harry Potter so far.

I’m not a big Harry Potter fan – I fall asleep in all the films so I didn’t actually see the film last night but I did drive to the cinema 4 times – once to take Leo , back again to pick him up, back again to drop Thomas off and then back again to pick him up!

When my son was 11 I bought the first 3 books sure that he would like them and be inspired to read for fun. What I didn’t count on was that I would be the one to get hooked not him. Better laid plans I guess.

I fully planned to do the same, but the mother of all summer colds has set up house in my head. The Harry Potter series is an amazing story and I was hooked after reading the first book. If you don’t mind a little spoiler info, you can read what I wrote about Harry Potter and sacrificial love. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

How fun! I totally would have fallen asleep at a midnight movie.

(I’ll just apologize now in case this comment goes through twice too…I seem to be having some computer “issues”….)

I wanted to go at the midnight opening, but pooped out. I kinda regret it now because it would have been so fun for my daughter, but man, I was TIRED.

Anyway, I still haven’t seen it but I’ll take care of that shortly :)
