New Meme In Town….

You are suppose to vlog or blog about your favorite things. Good idea except I already have blogged about my most favorite thing, my kindle. So I will re-post that blog for this meme because George (my kindle) deserves a second look for letting me download 6 books for free today, good job George. Yea! Amazon.com you rock.

My Kindle 2: I Think I’ll Name It….

I received an Amazon Kindle 2 for my birthday and with the exception of my children it is the best gift ’73 (my husband) ever gave me. I love this thing, I want to marry it and give it babies…a dozen or more little Kindles running around and we could get rich because these things are expensive ($350 and up). I had been wanting one for sometime but felt it was too extravagant…old habits die hard, always spend money on everyone else but not yourself. I thought I would feel different when the kids grew up but oddly…no. When ’73 gave it to me he made sure there were witness’s to avoid a scene…smart man ’73. My first instinct was to kill him…to verbally detach his manhood and feed it to him for being such a thoughtful husband and getting me something I really wanted….wait a minute…that doesn’t sound right…Oh God, I can’t be angry at him for being nice. We can’t afford it but his heart is in the right place. What kind of person would I be if I gave him a hard time for being sweet….come on this is me we are talking about…I would tear Mother Teresa’s head off in a hot minute (while she was feeding the hungry) if I was pissed at her. Unbelievably after only a minor skirmish and obligatory protest I decided to take the high road and keep it. I still think the darn thing is too expensive but with all the money I’ll save by downloading books it should pay for itself in…Oh.. ruffly 10 years. Thank you “73 I love it and see I do too know how to be grateful gracious.

Meet my Kindle 2…George… isn’t he cute! He is only 8 inches tall and 1/3 of an inch thick but he is mighty, mighty and can hold over 1500 down-loadable books…. can you say whispernet …sexy.

I know I have gone overboard here… but that’s me….one of my biggest passions is reading. I love that if I finish a book at 2:00 am, I don’t have to wait until the stores open. I can download another one immediately and start reading. The darn thing talks to me…for real…it will read out loud to me…’73 never did that.

Hmm. I just can’t give up books. I must say that you have some interesting titles in the background.

The photos are stock photos but I do have 6 of the books in the photo. Want to guess which 6? I love books and I am not giving them up. I will always buy certain authors in Hardback but the kindle is a great tool and convenience. It even has it’s own dictionary built in. I can’t say enough good things about it and have only 1 or 2 improvement ideas, such as a better way to catalog the books.

  2. I’m not sure I’d be able to take it into the bath (costing $350 and all) and the bath is where I get most my reading done. I’ll wait until they have a waterproof one!

    What a star ’73 is!

Yup my husband would love this.

I’d love to get one, but I’m still on the end of things where I’m so dag-blasted cheap that I’ll never buy one for myself. That and I have this reading problem where I can’t put a book down until I’m finished. And then bad things happen like…. no dinner…. dirty laundry… requests for help with homework are met with frustrated sighs… I’m afraid of what would happen to me if I ever got my hands on one!

Can you believe I didn’t even know what a kindle was – now I do! Thankyou!

I LOVE books, too, and I’ve been fascinated by the idea of the Kindle. I sort of want one, but I love to actually hold a book. But taking it to the pool or on a roadtrip would be so much more convenient, I’d think. Enjoy it!

    Ooh, nice Kindle! Hi George!
