This has been a busy week. On Monday Aug 31 my son in-law, one of the three Mikes had back surgery. It turned out to be more than any of us bargained for. The Doctors said to expect a 2 day hospital stay and seem to feel it would be a simple 6 hour surgery. “I do these all the time” famous last words of all doctors. Well he may do them all the time but it took 8 hours and 10 days in the hospital. We have all been concerned but he is home now and walking, good news. My daughter ’75 has been at the hospital everyday because it is short staffed and the quality of care was a bit of a joke, so I have been taking care of K and B. It has been a lot of fun but exhausting too. I am not as young as I use to be. I hate admitting that but it’s true. I love spending time with them though. B is so funny, typical 5-year-old and K is…well K. I have talked about her quiet a bit and she is just special to me. The first grandchild syndrome I guess. The days have been long but at least he is home now and we can all take a breath. Recovery will take a while so we will all be pitching in to help. This of course could lead to some interesting blogging material, naturally.
With that in mind: They replaced one of his discs with a cadaver disc. Does that mean he is now part zombie? Will he start craving brains fricassee like in all the zombie movies? Should I read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies to him? Okay, it’s late and I’m a little sleep deprived but it’s still funny gosh darn it!
Oh I’m glad he is doing better. And its good to know that you haven’t lost your sense of humor after these stressful days.
So glad the worst is over and looking forward to the inspired-blog-material! Do I feel a zombie theme in the works?
I’m glad that, despite the complications, all is well.
The zombie association totally creeps me out, though. Blech.
And I won BBQ sauce :)
Love the new layout, as usual!
I love zombie movies, always have and it is great that they can use cadaver donations to help people but you have to see the humor in it which is by association creepy.
Yum on the sauce, yay! for Kathy B.
I hope he makes a full recovery quickly.
I’m loving all the new layouts. Yesterday’s was cool too.
