The weather here in the high desert of California is strange. Sometimes you can get *70 and sunny in December, but 2 days later it is cold, wet ,dreary and in the lower *50’s dropping into the *30’s at night (like today). You never really know how to dress out here so you carry everything you might need in your car. It makes for a crowded car that looks like you might be living in it. You pass the other Mom’s and they look at your car, then you look at theirs, then you sort of just nod at each other as if to say “yeah its strange weather but at least I’m prepared” The good thing is you get to break out your sweatpants. Soft, warm, fleecy, comfortable sweatpants. I love sweats. They are the most comfortable pants on the planet. They are also the most forgiving of your waistline. When I was pregnant with my son ’88 I never even wore maternity pants, only sweatpants. That drawstring is incredibly long you know. After he was born I could honestly say “I can still fit in the pants I wore before I was pregnant” which is always a wonderful thing.
You can also curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book and some hot chocolate, if you have the time on days like these. If we get a few inches of snow it will only last for a day or two and then melt away as though it had never been here at all, very sad. But we always hope for snow anyway. The kids have been doing their snow dance (sort of like a rain dance) with twirling and whirling and singing so we will see how effective this is.
The weather here in Southern Arizona is like Sybal lately. Frost in the morning and high 70s by the afternoon. No wonder I’m not ready for Christmas, my psyche thinks it’s still October.
I know….right!
I think we got the snow your kids were dancing for. Any chance you’d be willing to share the warm temps to melt it for us?
Well ck, since it is raining right now and expected to continue right thru christmas I would say…..yes! In fact why share, have it all.
What a delightful picture of the birds, are they cranes? and I do wish I was enjoying your temperatures
Cute kids. We had a bout of snow last week but it’s almost gone now. The weather guessers are teasing us with white Christmas forecasts. May your holiday be bright and your cocoa hot. Merry Christmas to you and yours my bloggy friend.
It wasn’t a SNOW dance!
It was a rain dance that is usually made for 2 people. BUT my friends insisted on three people and I told them “All Hell is going to break loose, no way.” I gave in and look what happened. Gone was the comfortable weather….HELLO really cold rain but not cold enough for snow
