Music Legend Michael Jackson Dies At 50…

Michael Joseph Jackson 1958-2009.

Michael Jackson

It was reported today that legendary pop star Michael Jackson passed away at 50 years of age. The cause is believed to be cardiac arrest. I have put this on my blog because many years ago when the Jackson family came to California I met them during those first few days before the fame of the Jackson 5. I babysat for the two youngest Jackson’s on 2 occasions. I didn’t get to know them and I didn’t know why they were in Hollywood and I didn’t ask. I just thought they were a nice family and that is how I choose to remember Michael Jackson, a nice boy with a nice family.

There will always be unanswered questions and controversy about his personal life but I believe he will be remembered more for his music and his undeniable talent. I send my sympathies to the Jackson family for their loss. The king of pop is gone and we will miss his talent and wonder what he might still have created but he has left us his legacy of music and dancing, 2 pearls beyond compare. We will not see his like again.

Another Day Of Lines…

movie line

Another day of lines and more lines to see Transformers 2. First there was the line to get your tickets which you bought online so you wouldn’t have to stand in line, but you had to stand in a line anyway. Then there was the line waiting to get in which was split into 5 separate lines so we could be inside and not get heatstroke. There was the line to find seats, I told ’88 to be fluid like water and get through the crowd to find seats and it worked. How very Bruce Lee of me. Then there was the line at the concession stand to get coffee and sodas. The line to get in the restroom was long and several of us were doing the pee pee dance by the time we got in. The last and final line was to get out of the theater but that was the shortest one of the day.

The time we waste by standing in line was usually offset by the quality of dialog from the people you were with. It was a good time to catch up with friends or have a talk with your kids about that thing you had been meaning to bring up. Today there was no dialog, only texting and checking emails. There was no laughing, there was only tension from everyone, even little kids. What happened to those great midnight shows and crowds of fans where you could feel the excitement in the air. I miss the energy generated by the experience. It was fun to laugh and play trivia games and to let your inner nerd out to play. Oh well, maybe next month Harry Potter will be different.

The Viva’ Las Vegas Birthday….

For those of you who don’t know, my son ‘88’s birthday was  on the 17th. He did what a lot of kids his age do when they turn 21, he went to Las Vegas. His sister ’80 took him and she made sure he had a good time…. a real good time! Below you will find a progression of the evening in photos and a video…….yes she took a video. Don’t judge him too harshly, after all you only turn 21 once……thank God. Remember:  What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.

This is his first alcohol purchase. Makes a Mother proud doesn’t it.

A little further into the evening. His choice of weapon, Rum and whatever is in the little green bottle.

Hit a few slots

Drink a little more with your sister. This time something blue.

Drink a little more, gamble a little more, drink a little lot more, and now karaoke. This is the photo. He’s not bad. He sings something called Dragula by Rob Zombie. I can’t believe the vocal sound that he does, he usually sings Sinatra.

This is the video. I have to warn you it is in a bar and the language throws a few f-bombs around. Plus we do not know any of these people in the bar so don’t ask about the feather boas because I don’t know. Sort of looked like a WWF retired wrestler’s convention.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Still walking and heading back to the room to grab a bite to eat at 2:30 am. He’s a rock star.

He never did get anything to eat unless of course he ate the pillow that everyone thought looked like a giant Vienna sausage. My baby, well at least he is drooling like a baby.

I just need to lay down for a minute, really. Just let me close my eyes for 5 minutes and then we will go eat. Famous last words.

It is the next day and what is the plan stan, do it all again, ONE. MORE. TIME.

More Puppies To Love….

gracie lou

If you read my post A Special Puppy then you know about the passing of my daughter ’75’s puppy Sophie. It was very heartbreaking and we were all sad. Because it was something congenital the pet store said it would not refund the cost or help with the vet bills but they would replace her with another dog. Well as you can imagine this did not sit well with anyone, how unfeeling can you be.

Then ’75 met Gracie Lou and she stole a little piece of her heart. She is a King Charles Spaniel who is 8 weeks old. Welcome Home Gracie Lou….
