What is it with the male of our species? They misplace things all the time, important things like car keys and socks, but when they look for them they can never find them, ever. So he asks you where it is and expects you to find it right away which you usually do. When he does look he bangs around grumbling, blaming everyone but himself, even the dog. He typically gives a quick, cursory glance around the room and then tries to convince you he really looked hard but just couldn’t find it, yeah right! I think it is a conspiracy to get us to do the work for them. Once he says he “looked” he then asks you to find it because you are just so good at it. In fact if you have been together long enough he doesn’t bother looking himself anymore, he just comes straight to you and asks where it is, like you did something with it. After awhile you will automatically look for anything he’s lost without him asking. I believe this has been the goal all along, to train us without our realizing it. It doesn’t matter what age they are or what your role in their life is, wife, mother, girlfriend, they all do it. Do dads secretly teach this to their sons or is it something in their testosterone? Men want us to become mindless drones who do nothing but find endlessly lost objects. They don’t need us to find it, it’s just easier for them if we do. Well the laugh is on them because what they don’t know, is that we hide their stuff…. we hide it all the time, just because we can, and it’s fun to screw with their heads.
It is with great sadness that I have learned 148 Lancaster, California school teachers were given their pink slips yesterday. Stop and imagine what this will mean to your children and the education you want for them. This will mean overcrowded classrooms, fewer elective options and in some cases no music program at all. It will also mean less supervision for your child when not in the classroom, which can affect their safety. After school programs, like marching band or sports will suffer or be discontinued, and programs like special education may be cut also. This is to say nothing of the financial and emotional devastation this will cause our teachers, who may have to move away from our city and maybe the state to find work, causing a shortage of teachers in the future. We moved here 24 years ago because it was a good place to raise our kids and was a growing community. Without good teachers that community will stagnate and people will move to a better place with safer schools and smaller classrooms. Lancaster is in trouble and its citizens need to do something about it. If you disagree with what is happening in the Lancaster schools then you need to contact the Lancaster school district, your congressman, your senator, and even the Governor, to let them know that this isn’t right and you expect a change or you won’t re-elect them. Don’t let them balance the California budget on the backs of our children.
What is it with this country that we can judge people so harshly, simply because they showed a lack of good judgement and behaved irresponsibly. Nadya Suleman has committed no crime, nor has she broken any laws, yet the media has portrayed her as a con artist, as someone with a hidden agenda and questionable sanity. From the moment they found out about the multiple birth of 8 babies by implantation and that the Mom already had 6 more kids at home, and she was receiving government assistance, the media has bombarded us with the idea that she is personally responsible for our bad economy. There is no question that when you are a single parent, unemployed, and living on food stamps that you should not be considering adding to your family. Whether you already have just 1 child or even 6 children at home, everyone agrees it is not fair to the children you already have to put such a burden on them with the financial devastation multiple births can cause. Ms. Suleman has already been tried and convicted by the media, who has created this negative frenzy to make money for themselves. They have even given her a name that sounds like a comic book villain, “Octo Mom”. There has been many other multiple births and the parents have been given help by companies and individuals alike. The public has rallied around them and wished them well, but not with this Mom. Instead she has received death threats and all offers of help have been withdrawn. If she asks for help she is accused of being materialistic and using her babies for personal gain, if she says she can handle it by herself she is accused of being unrealistic. Now some people are suggesting that social services step in and take her children away from her and place them in new homes with new parents. This is wrong, and no matter what we think of how they got here, these kids are here now, and they need help. They don’t need the media maligning their Mother and driving her to do something desperate, because she has been pushed out on an emotional and hormonal ledge. Lets not treat her any different than we would the parents of other multiples just because she is poor, single, and showed poor judgement. We should offer help and give her and her family a chance to thrive before making threats. Nadya Suleman may not be a hero, but she is also not the villain.
